Charleston, WV (HNN) — West Virginia Secretary of Transportation Paul Mattox announces that $12 million has been allocated from the State Road Fund to form a “Winter Damage Repair Program” to repair the damage to roads as a result of this year’s significant winter events.

“With the major winter storms this season, it is not surprising that roads and bridges have taken tremendous wear and tear,” stated Secretary Mattox. “By setting aside $12 million from the State Road Fund and dividing it proportionately among the 10 highway districts, we feel we can put a significant dent in repairing the damage to our roads caused by these extraordinary winter events.”

The Winter Damage Repair Program will begin as soon as warmer weather allows asphalt plants to open and will give a permanent fix to damaged roads, including potholes. DOH maintenance crews will continue to patch potholes with the cold mix method until then.
