Timberline Ski Resort Reports Full Occupancy over the Holiday Week
By HNN Staff
Davis, WV (HNN) – Despite the relatively warm winter weather, large
numbers of skiers and boarders have traveled to Timberline Four Seasons
Resort to enjoy the snow conditions of high altitude Allegheny Mountain
slopes.
The ski resort reports that occupancy in the rental program at
Timberline
Resort Realty has been at full occupancy over the holiday period
between
Christmas and New Year's. Ski resorts consider this period critical to
a
successful ski season.
Indications are that the skier numbers experienced at Timberline are
due to
several factors. The improved snow making is considered the most
important.
The recently purchased two vertical turbine pumps have allowed an
increase
in pumping capacity to assure the resort's expanding trail system is
covered
with snow early in the season. Timberline also recently purchased 60
snow
guns for scheduled installation on the resort's expanded ski area.
This
expansion of snowmaking capacity has allowed skiers to enjoy up to 12
trails
during the holiday period.
Another factor contributing to the capacity occupancy is the recognized
migration of skiers to the higher altitude mountains. This is
particularly
noticeable during periods of marginal cold weather conditions.
Timberline
has an elevation of 4,268 feet of altitude and true north-facing slopes
on
the Eastern Continental Divide.
In addition, Timberline is increasingly recognized for its slopeside
food
and beverage service at the resort's Fireside Grill and Timbers Pub.
The
expanding entertainment schedule has also become increasingly popular.
Two
musical groups perform every weekend and holidays during the entire ski
season.
