Marshall's Kerns Sits In Second After Day 1 Of Ball State Cardinal Intercollegiate
Thundering Herd One Shot Out of the Lead after 36 holes

Jasper, IN (HNN) — Nathan Kerns (Fr., Ironton, Ohio) sits in second place after day one of the Ball State Cardinal Intercollegiate at the Sultan’s Run Golf Course. Kerns is one shot behind Bowling Green’s Matt Schneider. Kerns opened the day by shooting an even par 72. Kerns posted four birdies to compliment 12 pars. In round two, Kerns tallied five birdies, on his way to a one under 71 and a 36-hole 143 total. Schneider had back-to-back 71’s to take the lead.
As a team, the Thundering Herd shot 301 to tie with Evansville for third after the morning round of the meet. Marshall posted a season best 296 in round two for a 36-hole total of 597. Marshall is only one shot behind a trio of teams (Detroit Mercy, Bowling Green, Eastern Kentucky) for first place.
Bosten Miller (So., Charleston, W.Va.) is tied for third place with other golfers (145). Miller’s day began with three birdies and 10 pars as he shot a one over 73. Miller shot par (72) in his second round. Miller had three birdies and 12 pars during the round.
Aaron Boggs (R-Fr., Madison, W.Va., Scott H.S.) recorded a 78 in the opening round that featured a birdie on the 13th hole. Boggs’ first round saw 12 pars as well. Boggs’ second round showcased six birdies to go along with six pars for a 77. He is tied with three other players for 41st (155).
Dustin Cutlip (R-Jr., Marlinton, W.Va.) posted an opening round 78 which was highlighted by nine straight pars on the back nine. Cutlip recorded an 80 during his second 18 holes. He charted two birdies and nine pars. His 36-hole total is 155.
Bennett Boyer (R-Jr., Millersburg, Pa.) Boyer recorded an 83 during his first 18 holes. Boyer recorded 13 pars during his second round to post a 76 for 36-hole total of 159.
Ryan Brookshire (R-So., Grapevine, Texas) is competing as an individual during the event. Brookshire carded three birdies during his round of 82 which started his meet. During round two, Brookshire carded six birdies as he shot a season best 71. Brookshire is tied for 33rd with three other players.
