OBITUARY: Robert Anthony 'Tony' Seaton 1957-2008

Robert Anthony “Tony” Seaton died after a short illness on July 7, 2008 in Hospice care at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Born August 5, 1957, Tony was the son of James L. Seaton of Longboat Key, Florida and Carter Taylor Seaton (Richard Cobb) of Huntington.
 
A 1975 Barboursville High School graduate, he received his BA degree from Marshall University where he was a member of the journalism honorary fraternity Sigma Delta Chi. He was a photo-journalist, videographer, editor and television producer whose career started in 1980 at WOWK-TV. From 1983-1987 he was a news photographer at WSAZ-TV before moving to Florida to work for Time Warner Cable Productions in Bradenton where his commercials and video productions won over 30 ADDY Awards. From 1993-1995 he was a freelance videographer. In 1995 he moved to Detroit, Michigan where he filmed and produced a weekly medical TV show, “Second Opinion.”
 
Following a near fatal hit-and-run bicycle accident, he returned to Huntington in 2001. For the past two years his stories have been seen on HuntingtonNews.Net, in St. Mary’s Today and in The Huntington Quarterly. He was a life-long member of Beverly Hills Presbyterian Church.
 
His grandparents Harvey Carter and Dorothy Taylor and Vernon and Virginia Seaton and two uncles, Vernon Wright Seaton and Harvey Taylor, III preceded him in death. He is survived by his two brothers Michael Seaton and his children, Jamie and Cole Seaton of Barboursville and Jimmy Seaton of Longboat Key, Florida; his sister Dorothy Ann Seaton Stinson (Scott), her children James Hillen and Kris Hillen (Amy), and their son Maxwell Hillen of Huntington. Additional survivors include one uncle, Sam Kendall Seaton (Carol); one aunt Chris Taylor Barrett (Jack); two great-aunts, Elinore Taylor and Nancy Taylor, cousins Christy Taylor Holmes (Randy), Scott Taylor, Jennifer Seaton Colquitt (Travis), Andrea Seaton Kelton (Rhett), Carrie Seaton Jetma, Holley Seaton Kirkwood, Sherrie Seaton Tafoya, and his soul mate and life-partner, Denise Young.
 
A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 19 at Beverly Hills Presbyterian Church, 469 Norway Avenue.
