Special to Huntingtonnews.net
CELEBRATE the 50th Anniversary of The Big Dipper!
Camden Park is rocking and rolling to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of The Big Dipper. The Anniversary Celebration is July 18th when the world famous COASTERS take the stage to perform the music of the era when the Big Dipper was built. Two big shows are planned at 7 PM and 8:30 PM in the Mound Builder Pavilion and a spectacular fireworks show will follow at 10 PM.
The Big Dipper is the signature ride for Camden Park. It is a classic wooden roller coaster with a Classic Century Train. The National Amusement Device Company built the Big Dipper in 1958, and its construction cost $3,500. It is 45 feet high and 1800 feet long. The Big Dipper replaced the New Sensation, the original Camden Park roller coaster. The ride lasts one minute and 40 thrilling seconds. Patrons from all over the country travel to West Virginia to ride the Big Dipper every year.
Camden Park announces its newest promotion for Senior Citizens. Every Tuesday in July is Senior Day with Senior Admission only $5.99 on that day.
