Huntington, WV (HNN) – One of West Virginia’s best known politicians will autograph a new release of his biography on Friday, July 11 at Borders Bookstore in the Huntington Mall. Former Gov. Arch Moore, now 85, will sign copies beginning at 2 p.m. during a release party. Brad Crouser, the author, will be on hand too.

"The story spans nine decades of Arch Moore's life, through triumphs and tragedies that have been compared to a Shakespearean drama," notes Keith Davis, publisher. "Perhaps no one has had a more significant impact on the day-to-day lives of West Virginians than the subject of this book. It is a must-read for anyone interested in the history and politics of the Mountain State in the last half of the 20th Century."

Although initially reluctant, Moore sat for numerous day-long interviews by Crouser, a Charleston lawyer who had served in his third administration. About 80 others were interviewed for Arch, a project which took two years to research and write. Moore opened his private papers to the author and revealed previously untold information. The book has been critically well-received around the state and nation, selling thousands of copies.

After an adventurous career in World War II, in law, the U.S. House and as the state's only three-term governor, Moore spent three years in federal confinement after pleading guilty to raising and spending cash in the 1984 and 1988 elections.

He is best known for building West Virginia's four-lane highway system.

At public appearances , "many delight him by assuring him they'd vote for him again if he ran," observes Crouser. "He and Mrs. Moore graciously accompanied me at book signings of Arch in Huntington, Charleston and Wheeling during the initial release, and he recently did some on his own in Doddridge and Randolph Counties and elsewhere. The lines of well-wishers are always long and enthusiastic." Crouser adds, "Some even drive a long distance to Governor Moore's Moundsville office just to get him to sign the book and shake his hand. He remains a legendary figure. I'm pleased we could preserve this very interesting story for posterity."

Besides being available at Borders, Arch, The Life of Governor Arch A. Moore, Jr. will again be available, now in softcover, at Taylor Bookstore, Tamarack, Amazon.com, Barnesandnoble.com and in better bookstores around the state. It will also be distributed and available for libraries nationally through Baker & Taylor and Ingram.

The Moores are the parents of four-term Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito, R-WV
