Weekend First at HNN: Weekly Movie Comings and Goings

Huntington, WV (HNN) -- New Mainstreamers… After a glut of new movies, the powers that be have decided to take a break, likely hoping that a few of the already released flicks will find an audience before the arrival of two tent pole behemoths --- Superman Returns (June 28) , an ultimate counter-programmer, “The Devil Wears Prada” (June 30) and “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” (July 7).
So, if you are not an Adam Sandler fan, his “Click” comedy is your only new choice, so you will have to check out one of those flicks already in the pipeline.
In some areas, though, you may have “Waist Deep” as an option.
Continuing Art/Festival/Limited Releases …
If you want to travel to Charleston, you can catch Robert Altman’s “A Prairie Home Companion” playing Park Place Stadium Cinemas snd Teays Valley.
Featuring Woody Harrelson, Tommy Lee Jones, Garrison Keillor , Kevin Lkine, Lindsay Lohan, Lily Tomlin and Meryl Streep, the film tells a true-to-life story of the famed Public Radio series, opening at Mickey’s Diner just a few blocks from the Fitzgerald Theatre in downtown St. Paul, Minnesota. Fans of the weekly program should find it laudable. Or, in the words of Keillor, “We come from people who brought us up to believe that life is a struggle, and if you should feel really, really happy, be patient: this will pass.”
