KINCHEN AT THE MOVIES: Already Great IMDB Adds U.S. TV Showings of All
Movies
By David M. Kinchen

The Internet Movie Data Base -- www.imdb.com -- keeps getting better
and
better. The latest addition gives the time, date and place of the next
TV
showing of a movie. For instance, Liz and I are both phans (!) of Joel
Schumacher’s “The Phantom of the Opera.”
We have the DVD and the soundtrack of the 2004 flick and we watch it
whenever it appears on HBO. Turning to the movie listing on IMDb to see
what
the director and stars are up to, I learned that the next showing of
the
movie starring Emmy Rossum, Gerard Butler and Patrick Wilson will be at
2:30
p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007.
Neato! Keep it up, IMDb. P.S. Joel Schumacher has several movies in
the
works, according to the web site. This is good news for fans of one of
the
best directors around. One of them -- "The Number 23" -- stars Jim
Carrey
and Virginia Madsen. Look for it this year.
Also, I checked for a TV listing for Vincente Minnelli’s “Some Came
Running”
(1958) and there was none. Nada, bupkis. It’s also a crying shame that
three
of Minnelli’s 1950s movies – “Some Came Running,” “Home From the Hill,”
and
“Lust for Life” – aren’t available on DVD. This lack of DVD
availability
certainly limits their showing on TV.
