EDITORIAL: Reflections on an Abnormal Winter
The Providence Journal
The squirrels grow fat. The grass stays green. Kids shrug off winter
coats.
No doubt it's a drag for people who ski, but not bad for those living
on
boats.
Guys are golfing. But forget outdoor skating. It feels like a day for
the
beach.
Well, maybe a long walk? Or afternoon picnic? Of course, that's a bit
of a
reach.
The sky fades to gray. The air threatens rain. This wind can take off
with
your hat!
The folks who complain that winter's a pain say: the heating bills, who
can
beat that?
It's too warm for January. The warmest on record. And finally, the sun
comes
out!
El Nino is one thing. But more global warming? Pray tell us, what's
this all
about?
