LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Mollohan Not Seeing Danger; It’s Time to Elect Wakim
and Retire Mollohan
I remember Sept 11, 2001 like it was yesterday. I sat there frozen before
the horrifying images on TV. I remember wondering just how much of our
country was going to come crashing down or go up in flames.
It was a good feeling when the President and our Congress joined to fight
the terrorists wherever they found them. Our government promised to do all
it could to keep us safe.
I was dismayed therefore to learn that Alan Mollohan, our congressman for
the last twenty-four years, voted against a resolution this past summer to
support intelligence efforts to identify terrorists and track their
finances. What could Mr. Mollohan ever have been thinking? Why should we not
do all that’s possible to hunt these guys down and prevent another terrorist
attack on our homeland?
Can it be that after twenty-four long years Alan Mollohan no longer sees the
world as we do? Has all that money, power and prestige blinded his vision?
Is he no longer one of us but part of the Washington, DC beltway crowd,
sipping champagne and nibbling on toast points?
Not vote to protect us and our country! Some sort of East coast liberal
thinking has gotten into his head and it’s not good for us here in West
Virginia. It’s time to retire Mr. Mollohan to his fancy condos in DC and
bring in a fresh face.
My vote goes to Chris Wakim this time.
