DEVOTION: Waiting for a Blessing

By Beth Bondurant

As many blessings speed by... there are times we feel desperation and agony... waiting for a blessing.

Seconds drag by when an important "return call" never comes.

Minutes move into hours as a health problem progressively worsens and we can't seem to bring relief.

Hours propel into days and no miracle has come to pass and we feel defeated in our efforts to facilitate healing.

Waiting for a blessing drains our energy... our hope... our health... even our faith.

"We're depending on GOD for everything we need. Love us, God, with all you've got--that's what we're depending on."

A responding Doctor friend becomes a God send and enables a proper procedure for treatment.

Caring hands literally pick us up and transport us to waiting assistance.

Listening hearts open and surround our brokenness with support.

Numerous friends pray and encircle us with astounding strength as our "cloud of witnesses".

Family and loved ones pour their willing hearts out in tender words of caring.

"Oh! May the God of green hope fill you up with joy, fill you up with peace, so that your believing lives, filled with the life-giving energy of the Holy Spirit, will brim over with hope!"

O God... give us the stamina and steadiness to keep on keeping on when there seems to be no end to our lingering problems. Encourage our despondent spirit with the power of renewal that comes from your healing hands. Help us to see the presence and power of our faithful brothers and sisters on their knees in prayer for our well being. We feel so alone... even in the presence "of your table of mercy". Thank you for understanding how hard it is .... waiting for a blessing.
