DEVOTION: Silhouette

By Beth Bondurant

In the slow morning light... many silhouettes appear... and sometimes the imagination can be so inspired by seeing the movement and meaning of life being reflected ever so slowly in the soft scant light of the sky.

A new day begins... the promise of restoration beams again through the limbs and leaves of the swaying trees.

God with us... lightening up the hidden landscape with hope of reconciliation and renewed strength.

A perfect day isn't a surety... but the awesome presence of peace and love is certain.

Even in the thick of bramble bushes and twisted twigs lies goodness and mercy.

"... for I am persuaded that NOTHING can separate me from God's love... absolutely NOTHING."

God's hope and healing comes... even in the form and void... speaking softly through the words of a friend or coming strongly from a memory of fulfillment and excitement in the joy of life gone by.

O God... help me to see you in the silhouettes of those around me. Bolster my hope and faith as I am touched and cared for ... yesterday and today. Keep me ever in mind of what is possible and most probable when I believe your love and mercy surrounds every aspect of my being. Calm the winds of doubt that blow me from your peace. In the quiet of the dawn... heal my heart. Clear my eyes to see and know your silhouette of love.
