DEVOTION: Updates...
By Beth Bondurant
Winter storm warnings are constantly being updated this time of year.
School closings and other important information are frequently ongoing during regular programing.
Almost daily one's computer has updates from a variety of applications requiring choices and decisions.
Daily news updates what is happening both locally and abroad.
Usually the first question when you arise will be a family member or friend wanting to be updated as to your well being or activities.
Changes and challenges come systematically in every facet of our daily living... not just in our technology and relationships but with every breath we take.
Yet ... sometimes we have no clue as to what decision to make about the choices we might have in our continual downloading of pertinent instructions.
One almost has to be a "computer geek" to understand the language of new software and ascertain the correct procedure to perform it's successful utilization.
Family units may remain steady but are also subject to lightening quick reformation.
Here today and gone tomorrow can describe a big portion of our routine schedule at work... school... and interrelated responsibilities.
We become almost robot like in our response to what we want to see... to do... to be... without much consideration of the consequences. Updates are all too frequent without proper discernment of the outcome.
Is your head spinning?... Does your body feel pulled in so many ways that it feels tired and twisted and that "peace that passes all understanding" seems vague and unattainable.
Our current society and lifestyle compel us to make snap decisions and quick clicks ... to text and talk and share updates with incredible speed. There seems to be no time to stop... to make prayerful considerations in the choices we make.
"Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don't get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever things come up when the time comes. What I'm trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God's giving. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions."
Sometimes powering OFF of so much outside influence can give us an opportunity to turn ON to God's presence and power within and around us.
Update your heart, mind, soul and spirit with God's love... it's unconditional and can't be removed.
