DEVOTION: Checkered Clutter
By Beth Bondurant
Bits and pieces of color and small reminders of events and experiences left over and remembered... saved to share or use or store or recirculate in various degrees of creative usage.
Dust catchers... dormant dreams... good intentions... hoarded excess... accumulated assets... abundant supply... more than needed.
Checkered clutter can be found in too many areas of my living space... physically, emotionally and spiritually.
Stored up ... yet needing to be swept away to free up our mind, body and spirit.
Winds of spring are able to pick up and carry away the clutter of winter. Leaves and twigs and residue from the heavy blanket of cold and snow are redistributed by swift bursts of whipping and whirling gusts of airborne transportation.
Would that we would allow God's Spirit of rebounding energy to flow through our hearts, minds, bodies and spirits to refresh us...cleanse us... purify us... purge us... clarify the checkered clutter and constant build up from day to day living.
Spring cleaning is exciting... when we can look out of sparkling windows... and see the beauty and amazing detail of God with us from every room ... every corner.... every part of our being.
Yet it is also a challenge to 'let go'... to give away... to break open our hearts... our house... our minds... our possessions... and pour them out.
"Cleanse me, O God, and renew a right spirit within me."
"It is in losing... that we find... in giving up that we are fulfilled."
It is a puzzle... a mystery... to understand both the meaning and purpose of checkered clutter being redistributed... redeemed and restored in the hands of the Master Creator.
